Marimekko in Sydney

I was extremely thrilled to find out that Marimekko has opened up a store in Sydney. So I went to check it out a lunch time.

All my favourite designs were there. We had bought a quilt cover in the red poppy design (Unikko) while we were in Copenhagen and a few other bits and pieces.

I also bought some of the red Unikko in the plastic bonded fabric to make a tablecloth out of.

I also decided to compare prices (see if how much more Aussies are paying for the same items). The above coasters are for sale in the Sydney store for $45.

I bought them in Copenhagen for 199 kroner which is around $32. So still quite a bit more (this annoys me so much, considering the Australian dollar is so strong at the moment).

I went to several Marimekko stores and I found it's cheaper in Berlin! We're going to have to go again so I can stock up.

  1. I love Marimekko fabric too. So timelessly stylish.
How have you been since Blogtoberfest, Lien? I just wanted to let you know that I'm hosting another (albeit gentler and more introspective) blog challenge over the month of December called #reverb12.
Would be so rapt if you joined us!
There's a little giveaway too. :-)

    Details here:

    Take care,

  2. Love this ... I wish there was one in Brissy.
